One Flutter codebase for polished iOS and Android apps, updated faster
Flutter, Google’s open-source framework, lets you build an app for both iOS and Android from a single Dart codebase. Uteek uses it in Tunis to deliver apps with a polished look and feel that are quicker to update and easier to maintain over the years.
Uteek · TunisWhat is a Flutter app?
A Flutter app is a mobile application built with Flutter, the open-source UI toolkit created by Google. Its code is written in Dart and compiled to native machine code for iOS and Android, and the same project can also produce web or desktop versions. Flutter draws every interface element with its own rendering engine, so the app looks the same on every device and animations stay smooth.
For a business, the benefits are practical: one team, one codebase and new features released on both stores at the same time. Flutter can still reach phone features such as the camera, location or push notifications through plugins or native bridges. At Uteek, we use it when it fits the brief, and we add Swift or Kotlin code whenever a feature calls for it.
Our Flutter expertise
Maintainable Dart architecture
Feature-based code structure, proven state management such as Bloc or Riverpod, and clear conventions that keep the project readable as it grows.
Custom design system
Reusable UI components built around your brand, rendered identically on iOS and Android, or adapted to each platform’s conventions where that serves users better.
Native integrations
Camera, GPS, biometrics or Bluetooth access through reliable plugins, plus custom bridges in Swift or Kotlin when a requirement goes beyond what plugins offer.
Connection to your services
Integration with your REST or GraphQL APIs, Firebase or existing back end, with proper network error handling and local data caching.
Automated testing
Unit, widget and integration tests run on every change, catching regressions before they reach your users’ phones or the app stores.
Continuous delivery
An automated build pipeline that compiles iOS and Android releases and pushes them to internal testing, then to the stores, without repetitive manual steps.

Why work with Uteek on your Flutter project?
We use Flutter with judgement, knowing both its strengths and its limits, to ship solid apps on both platforms.
A pragmatic approach
Flutter is not the answer to everything. We check early on that your features suit it, and we tell you plainly when a native approach would serve your project better.
Two-sided mobile skills
Our developers also know Swift and Kotlin. When a plugin is missing or falls short, we write the native code required instead of working around the problem or cutting the feature.
Code that can be handed over
Documented architecture, shared conventions and automated tests mean your Flutter app can be taken over by another team, including your own, without relying on a single developer.
From design to store
Our UX/UI designers work with Flutter components in mind from the start, so turning mockups into working screens is faster and more faithful to the original design.

Frequently asked questions: Flutter App Development
Is Flutter suitable for a professional app?
Yes. Flutter is maintained by Google and used in production by many companies, including for banking and retail apps. It is a strong fit for apps with rich interfaces, forms and API-driven content. It is less suited to some very specific cases, such as complex home-screen widgets or advanced audio and video processing, which call for native code.
What is the difference between Flutter and React Native?
Both let you share code between iOS and Android. React Native relies on JavaScript and each platform’s native components, which suits teams already working with web technologies. Flutter uses Dart and its own rendering engine, which gives an identical interface on every device and consistent graphics performance. We recommend one or the other based on your context and team.
Can a Flutter app also run on the web?
Flutter can build a web version from the same code, which works well for a customer portal, an internal tool or a dashboard. For a marketing website that needs to rank well on Google, however, a conventional website remains the better option. We tell you what makes sense before sharing code across platforms.
Can an existing app be migrated to Flutter?
Yes, either through a full rewrite or gradually, by adding Flutter screens to the existing native app. We start with an audit of the code, features and user data to choose the lowest-risk strategy. A migration must preserve user accounts, data stored on the device and the continuity of updates on both stores.
Does a Flutter app perform as well as a native one?
For the vast majority of use cases, yes. Dart code is compiled to machine code and Flutter’s rendering engine is built for smooth animations. Any differences mostly concern app size, which is typically a little larger, and some heavy processing tasks that we can hand off to native code when needed.
Do I need a Flutter team to maintain the app afterwards?
One skill set is enough to maintain both the iOS and Android versions, which keeps things simple. You can entrust maintenance to Uteek or bring it in-house: we provide architecture documentation, automated tests and, if you wish, a technical handover session so your developers can take ownership of the project.
How long does it take to build a Flutter app?
Sharing code across both platforms reduces development and testing effort compared with two separate native apps. A focused first version typically takes two to five months, depending on the number of screens, the integrations and the complexity of the admin side. We set a detailed schedule after the feasibility review.
