What does iOS and Android app development involve?

iOS and Android app development means designing, coding, testing and publishing an app that people install on phones and tablets running the two leading mobile operating systems. An app can be native, written in Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, or cross-platform, sharing one codebase through frameworks such as Flutter or React Native. The right choice depends on the features you need, your performance expectations, your budget and your product roadmap.

At Uteek, we treat your app as a complete product rather than a set of screens. That includes the API and admin panel behind it, Apple and Google developer accounts, store review guidelines, push notifications, analytics and data security. For more than ten years, our team in Tunisia has delivered apps for clients at home and abroad, working in both French and English.

What our service includes

Scoping and tech choice

We review your goals, users and constraints, then recommend a native or cross-platform approach, with clear reasoning documented before any code is written.

Mobile UX/UI design

User flows, mockups and interactive prototypes that follow iOS and Android conventions, so people understand your app from the very first launch.

Native or cross-platform build

Swift and Kotlin when performance or hardware access demand it, Flutter or React Native when sharing code across both platforms makes more sense.

API and admin panel

We design the API, the database and an admin interface so your team can manage content, users and notifications without calling a developer.

Real-device testing

Functional and compatibility testing across several device models and OS versions, with test builds shared through TestFlight and the Google Play Console.

Store launch and maintenance

We prepare your App Store and Google Play listings, handle the review process, then ship bug fixes and keep the app compatible with each new OS release.

Frequently asked questions: iOS and Android App Development

Should I choose a native or a cross-platform app?

Native development, with Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, still makes sense for apps that push performance hard or rely heavily on hardware, such as sensors, Bluetooth or video processing. For most projects, a cross-platform framework like Flutter lets both platforms share most of the code and keeps maintenance simpler. We make the call after reviewing your features, not before.

How much do Apple and Google developer accounts cost?

The Apple Developer Program costs 99 USD per year, and Google Play Console registration is a one-time fee of 25 USD. These fees are paid directly to Apple and Google and are not part of our service. We help you open the accounts, including for a company registered in Tunisia, and guide you through each platform’s identity checks.

Who owns the source code and the store accounts?

The App Store and Google Play accounts are opened in your organisation’s name: you own them and simply grant us developer access. The source code is handed over on delivery under the terms of the contract, together with the documentation another team would need to take it over if required.

What happens if Apple rejects the app?

Rejections during Apple’s review are common and usually tied to a specific guideline, such as missing demo login details, thin content or the way personal data is handled. We prepare submissions carefully to reduce that risk, then analyse the reason, fix the issue and resubmit. This follow-up is part of our publishing support.

How long does it take to build an iOS and Android app?

It depends on the feature scope, the number of screens and the integrations required. As a rough guide, a focused first version typically takes three to six months, including design and store launch. A richer app with a complex admin panel or many connections to existing systems can take longer. We set a precise schedule once scoping is complete.

Which iOS and Android versions will the app support?

We agree on minimum versions with you based on your audience and planned features. Supporting very old systems adds testing effort and rules out some newer APIs, while targeting only recent versions leaves part of your users behind, especially on Android, where devices vary widely. Your website analytics often help settle the question.

How is the app maintained after launch?

Apple and Google release new OS versions every year and regularly tighten their requirements, for example on the minimum target SDK. Our maintenance agreement covers bug fixes, compliance with these changes, security updates for third-party libraries and, if you wish, the addition of new features.
